LNA commander Marshal Khalifa Haftar vowed that his forces will enter the Libyan capital without bloodshed, unless obliged to. He made this statement after clashes spurred between the National Accord Government forces and armed members on Wednesday. These clashes led to closing the road linking Tripoli to other cities in east Libya . No official statement was made by the government in Tripoli regarding these clashes. A source from the Presidential Guard (PG) stated that the Special Deterrence Force (SDF) attacked an aerie belonging to an armed gang accused of assassination and hijacking operations in Al Maya, 30 kilometers in the west of Tripoli, and this triggered clashes between the two sides. Xinhua news agency stated, reporting the source, that the SDF captured a number of armed men and killed others, including their leader. The Special Deterrence Force is considered an affiliate to the Presidential Guard, which was established two years ago for the sake of securing the government headquarters and main roads in Tripoli and its suburbs. Major General Abdul Razak An-Nazouri stated that the LNA are conducting “a second battle against the sleeping cells and the cowards who were defeated before.” In a televised speech on Wednesday, Nazouri urged the city residents to support the army and notify it about any suspicious activity. Further, a local source declared that a partial evacuation has been made in El-Feel Oilfield, after the guards withdrew in a protest over salaries. Until now, protests haven’t affected the product of crude oil in the oilfield, said a source from the Libyan oil sector to Reuters. In a related matter, the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) has issued a decision to remove Libya from the list of follow-up countries with regard to its ability to implement standards and obligations to combat money-laundering and terrorist financing offences, according to the Central Bank of Libya (CBL).
