Indian actress Sridevi, Bollywood’s legend, died at the age of 54 after cardiac arrest, Indian media reported on Sunday. Sridevi was attending a wedding in Dubai and died on Saturday after suffering a heart attack, her brother-in-law Sanjay Kapoor told the Indian Express. In a career spanning five decades, Sridevi had worked in 300 of Bollywood films and was awarded the Padma Shri, India’s fourth-highest civilian honor in 2013. She was also popular in regional language films such as - Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam, and Kannada. Sridevi took a break from films soon after she married producer Boney Kapoor in 1996. Her last screen appearance was in “Mom” (2017), Reuters reported. “I have no words. Condolences to everyone who loved Sridevi. A dark day. RIP,” actress Priyanka Chopra said on Twitter. Sadiq Khan, Mayor of London, tweeted saying, "So sad to hear the news of the death of such a terrifically talented actress, performer and producer." “She was a veteran of the film industry, whose long career included diverse roles and memorable performances,” Indias Prime Minister Narendra Modi said in a tweet. President of India also mourned Sridevis death saying: "Shocked to hear of passing of movie star Sridevi. She has left millions of fans heartbroken."
