More than half a ton of hashish seized in Jazan and smugglers arrested

JEDDAH: Border Guards in Jazan arrested seven drug smugglers who tried to bring 618 kg of hashish into the Kingdom.They seized narcotics that were buried in a Farasan island and meant to be picked up by the smugglers’ partners.The Border Guards’ spokesman, Col. Saher Al-Harbi, said that in the past fortnight the guards foiled the smuggling attempt by people who tried to use fishermen to mislead security men.Al-Harbi said the smugglers comprised five Saudis and two Yemenis who buried 350 kg of hashish in a Farasan island.By combing the area where smugglers were arrested in coordination with Drug Enforcement Agency specialists in Jazan, 268 kg of hashish was found at another site.
