Bahrain’s Foreign Affairs Minister Sheikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa said that the solution to the crisis is in Dohas hands. “We have clear demands; to stop the damage and keep our countries safe from any harm,” Sheikh Khalid said in an interview, following the talks with his Morocan counterpart Nasser Bourita. “The interventions are known and the evidence is there. All we hope is that the State of Qatar fulfills its duty by returning and committing to the signed agreements,” he added. For his part, Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation told Asharq Al-Awsat that his country’s position regarding the Qatari crisis has been clear from the beginning, highlighting the fraternal relations that bind King Mohammed VI with his brothers, kings, princes and heads of the Gulf Cooperation Council states. In this context, Bourita said that the Moroccan-Gulf Summit underscored this strategic depth in relations, reiterating that Morocco “is concerned with what is happening in the Gulf,” and the GCC countries have expressed their full solidarity with his country. He pointed out that King Mohammed VI "always saw the GCC as the only spot of light in this Arab dimness, and he hoped that the council remains a role model that inspires others." On the other hand, Sheikh Khalid affirmed Morocco’s sovereignty over the Sahara and said that the sole way to seek a solution to this made-up regional dispute can only be achieved within the framework of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Morocco. He stressed that his country “stands with Morocco against any threat or abuse that would affect its sovereignty.” Describing the relations between the two countries as "typical", the Bahraini minister expressed his aspiration to strengthen these relations to the maximum extent, in accordance with the directives of the leaders of the two countries. For his part, Bourita underlined that Morocco rejects any attack on the stability of the Kingdom of Bahrain and supports all measures taken in this regard. Following the bilateral talks, the 4th Session of the Joint Bahraini-Moroccan Committee was held, during which means of enhancing cooperation between Morocco and Bahrain were reviewed. The session also witnessed the signing of a series of agreements covering a number of fields.
