Gulf, Arab and Islamic organizations have condemned the terrorist attacks on the French Embassy, Cultural Institute and the army headquarters in Ouagadougou, the capital of Burkina Faso, on Friday. Saudi Arabia condemned the series of attacks, stressing the Kingdom’s rejection of terrorism and extremism of all kinds. An official source at the Foreign Ministry extended condolences to the victims, people and the government of Burkina Faso. The United Arab Emirates and Bahrain also condemned the attacks in two separate statements. The foreign ministries of the two countries confirmed their support for France and Burkina Faso against all forms of violence, extremism and terrorism. They reiterated their firm position and strong denunciation of terrorism, extremism and intolerance, calling on the international community to join forces to eliminate this dangerous menace and dry up sources of terrorism funding. The two gulf countries also expressed their deep condolences to the families of victims and wished quick recovery to those injured. The Egyptian Foreign Ministry, for its part, issued a statement stressing Cairo’s support for the peoples and governments of both Burkina Faso and France in combating terrorism. “Egypt supports the efforts of France and Sahel states in facing this phenomena that attacks security and stability worldwide,” the statement added, condemning the attacks in the “strongest terms.” Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Secretary General Yousef al-Othaimeen described the attacks as a "criminal act," appealing to the local authorities to make every effort to arrest the perpetrators and those supporting them, and bring them to justice. He stressed the need to boost international partnership to support efforts by Burkina Faso and the Sahel countries to root out terrorism. Othaimeen also reiterated the organizations firm rejection of all forms of terrorism and extremism, and he expressed the OICs solidarity with the government of Burkina Faso in its efforts to counter terrorism. He offered sincere condolences to the victims families, as well as the government and people of Burkina Faso, wishing a quick recovery to the injured.
