DUBAI: An official UAE source has said no concession has been granted to Qatar Petroleum to develop and operate a joint oilfield in Abu Dhabi. The source added that the work had been extended to a Japanese consortium to manage the field communicate only with Abu Dhabi-based oil giant, ADNOC. On Tuesday, Reuters quoted Qatar Petroleum as saying that it had signed a concession agreement with the United Arab Emirates to further develop and operate the joint oil field. This claim has since been denied by the UAE. The agreement, signed in the middle of a boycott by four Arab countries on Doha, was signed with the Supreme Petroleum Council of Abu Dhabi, Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) and United Petroleum Development Company of Japan (UDC), the company said in a statement on its website.
