The pair released separate statements confirming that they have gone their separate ways. “I’m grateful to all of our fans for respecting this difficult decision and our privacy at this time,” wrote Malik. Hadid wrote: “I’m forever grateful for the love, time, and life lessons that Z and I shared. I want nothing but the best for him and will continue to support him as a friend that I have immense respect and love for.” Malik, who is British-Pakistani, and Hadid, who is half Palestinian, were one of the most visible minority couples in current pop culture. Between them, they have more than 100 million followers on their Instagram and Twitter profiles. People on social media say they are heart-broken by the news. Malik has unfollowed Hadid on Instagram.
