LONDON: The death of an Egyptian teenager, who was violently assaulted three weeks ago outside a shopping center in Nottingham, has sparked anger in Egypt. Mariam Moustafa, 18, died on Wednesday, after being attacked by a group of women in Nottingham three weeks before, it was reported by BBC News. Nottinghamshire Police said the dead girl had been “punched several times outside the Victoria Center in Parliament Street” in the attack at at 20:00 GMT on Feb. 20. The teenager then got on a bus only to be followed on to it by the same gang of women who had threatened her earlier. The 18 year old was taken to hospital and was placed into an induced coma, but died on Wednesday, BBC News reported. The Egyptian government has accused the hospital where Moustafa was treated of negligence, the Egyptian newspaper’s Ahram Online reported. Khaled Rizk, the Deputy Foreign Minister for Consular Affairs and Egyptians Abroad Ambassador, said that the ministry is following up investigations into the death of the Egyptian teenager.
