The Saudi Energy Efficiency Center stressed the importance of balancing vehicle tires on a regular basis as it promoted it as an approach to reduce fuel consumption and prolong tire lifetime. During its awareness campaign, the center called on vehicles being maintained regularly at a garage with tire specialists. Through its awareness campaign, the SEEC listed easy tells and signs of imbalanced tires, such as the deviation of the car when driving at medium or high speed. The fact that tires are not properly balanced increases tire friction even slightly with the road, which increases tire frame resistance and vehicle consumption for fuel. Additional engine power to maintain performance is needed to overcome a higher torque resistance, leading to increased fuel consumption. Poor tire care, such as overlooking increased friction, accelerates the ageing and damages the tire tread. More so, the SEEC advised customers to ensure that quality regulating card tagged to the tire are authentic by scanning it before purchase. The Quick Response code (QR) is then run against the database registered on the center’s official website. The center urged consumers to adopt energy-saving daily habits, cutting down unnecessary usage of air conditioning, shutting down appliances when not in use, and using energy-saving lamps and appliances. The awareness campaign listed many energy saving methods, including the selection of a washing machine of the appropriate size to avoid excessive use of energy to run an unnecessarily large machine. It also recommended leaving a space of 10 to 15 centimeters behind the refrigerators and freezers to ventilate cooling tubes and compressors, which contributes to reducing power consumption. Hot or warm food should not be placed in the refrigerator, the campaign advised. It is best to leave recently cooked foods to cool before placing it in the refrigerator so that the food is preserved, fresh and healthy, the campaign also advised. The SEEC was established by the national Council of Ministers.
