Man Sentenced to Death for Shooting Security Patrols, Sites

The Specialized Criminal Court (SCC) in Riyadh issued a preliminary judgment on the execution of a person for being involved with a terrorist cell, whose members have been wanted for targeting security points with the aim of injuring and killing security personnel. According to the preliminary judgment, the defendant fired three bullets at the Awamiya police station with the participation of two of his comrades. He opened fire on a Safwa checkpoint at two different times, four shots in the first time and seven shots the second time with the participation of five elements. He also opened fire at al-Nasera checkpoint two different times with five shots in the first time and six shots the second time with the participation of five other members. The defendant shot twice a security vehicle with one of his companions and he fired from a pistol on two civilian cars while walking in the town of Awamiyah, thinking that they are affiliated with security patrols. He used a night-vision telescope, which he has taken from one of the wanted men, to monitor the locations where they would watch security patrols and harass security men. He joined members of the terrorist cell in a chat application and coordinated the monitoring of the movements of armored and security vehicles in Awamiyah, received guidance for the implementation of these crimes, participated several times in riot acts, chanted slogans calling for the overthrow of the regime and the ruling government, received firearms and was trained with a number of his comrades on using them to carry out their crimes and disturb security. The court describes the criminal acts of which the defendant was convicted as barbaric.
