King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) and NEOM have signed an agreement in Riyadh to establish the “Center of Excellence for NEOM Research at KAUST”. The agreement seeks to provide a center for research and tutoring that offers solutions and contributes to pushing national development in sectors such as sustainable energy, artificial intelligence, big data, agriculture and others. As a first step, NEOM and KAUST aim to increase contribution to development of sustainable techniques in order to employ them in fields that are vital and significant to the kingdom and the world. Under the terms of the deal, both parties also seek to urge research institutions to take part in this mission. “This collaboration is yet another milestone for the Nation,” said Eng. Nadhmi al-Nasr, interim president of KAUST, on Wednesday. “Much is expected of organizations with the intellectual capital and ambition of KAUST and NEOM,” he added. CEO of NEOM Dr. Klaus Kleinfeld lauded KAUST, which has become a boost for innovation and scientific and technical progress, noting that this partnership joins NEOM and KAUST in a single vision to establish promising achievements in various fields, and to find solutions for the toughest challenges.
