Prime Minister Saad Hariri said that the Lebanese governments priority for the next stage is to focus on the productive sectors, expecting the upcoming CEDAR conference to contribute in providing many job opportunities for the Lebanese youth. He pointed that all the projects in the Capital investment program CIP that the government will present to the conference in Paris will be discussed by the cabinet for approval. The government is dealing realistically with the 10-year plan, which includes projects worth 16 billion dollars, he said. Hariris remarks came during a dialogue at the Grand Serail with participants in the "Business and Finance Forum" organized by Confex in cooperation with the Central Bank. He said: “The government has initiated, in conjunction with the preparation of this program, necessary and essential financial reforms, some of which were included in the 2018 draft budget, and they are the cornerstone for building a modern and integrated economy that can gain the trust of donor countries." He added: "In the previous stage, our goal was to consolidate political and security stability in the country, and today there is consensus within the government to focus on the economic situation, especially that important political and economic events are coming, most notably the CEDAR conference which will support the Lebanese economy. "Our problem today is that growth in the country has reached 1.5 percent, which is not enough compared to the challenges that Lebanon is facing, whether economically or in the issue of the Syrian refugees, which affects job opportunities in the country. The CEDAR conference is expected to contribute in providing many job opportunities for the Lebanese youth, based on the projects included in the CIP.” “If we achieve all the projects that we plan in various areas, a large amount of funds will be injected in the country, which will help all industrial and productive sectors,” he added.
