Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, held talks on Thursday with US Secretary of Defense Jim Mattis in Washington. Mattis received the Saudi royal at the Pentagon where talks focused on regional affairs, including the war in Yemen. Mattis said that Saudi Arabia was an integral part of the political solution in Yemen. "We must also reinvigorate urgent efforts to seek a peaceful resolution to the civil war in Yemen and we support you in this regard," he said, offering his firm backing to Riyadh. "We are going to end this war, that is the bottom line. And we are going to end it on positive terms for the people of Yemen but also security for the nations in the peninsula." Prince Mohammed had embarked on an official 18-day trip to the US on Tuesday, which he kicked off by holding talks with President Donald Trump.
