The Human Rights Information and Training Center, a non-government civil society organization based in Yemen’s Taiz, revealed that Houhti militias continue to commit violations in the city. These include killing and displacing citizens, as well as destroying public and private properties. It said in a monthly report covering February that 37 civilians were killed in Taiz, including eight women and six children. Eight of them were killed by mortars and howitzers launched by Houthis, an occurrence which takes place on a daily basis. Seven others were killed by militia snipers. The report added that mines planted by militias killed three people, including two women. Two others were killed by Katyusha rocket fire. Another six civilians died due to a shortage of medicine sparked by government neglect and the Houthis’ ongoing siege of Taiz. Moreover, 58 civilians were injured, including 11 women and 15 children. Ten civilians were wounded by militia sniper fire, added the report. Forced displacement rose in February with 48 families being forced out of their homes in Khadir, southeast Taiz, and 21 from Adnah. The report also accused the militias of committing five massacres in February, which left 11 people dead and 20 wounded. The report also recorded the partial damage of 15 public and private properties and total destruction of three houses due to militia shelling.
