The Cabinet, which was chaired by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz at Al-Yamamah palace in Riyadh on Tuesday, praised the success of the Saudi Royal Air Defense Forces in intercepting ballistic missiles fired by Houthi insurgents on Saudi Arabia. At the outset of the session, King Salman briefed the Cabinet on the outcomes of the two telephone calls he received from Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and Bahrain’s King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa as well as his discussions with President Denis Sassou Nguesso of Congo-Brazzaville. The Minister of State, Cabinets member and Acting Minister of Culture and Information, Dr. Essam bin Saad bin Saeed, said in a statement to Saudi Press Agency (SPA) following the session that the Cabinet praised US President Donald Trumps appreciation to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, upon his meeting with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Vice President of the Council of Ministers, and Minister of Defense during his current official visit to the US. The Cabinet welcomed the meeting and the confirmation made by Trump and the Crown Prince on the commitment to the deep and historic ties of friendship and strategic partnership between the two countries, he said. The Minister also pointed out that the Cabinet praised the success of the Saudi Royal Air Defense Forces in intercepting and destroying ballistic missiles fired indiscriminately by Houthis from Yemeni territories to target civilian and populated areas in the Kingdom. This criminal aggression by the Tehran-backed Houthi militias proves the continued involvement of the Iranian regime in supporting the insurgents in clear violation of UN Resolutions 2216 and 2231, he said. It also demonstrates the destructive role played by Iran in Yemen by smuggling missiles to the terrorist militias to be used against civilians in Yemen and Saudi Arabia, the Minister stated. The Cabinet also stressed Riyadh’s strong condemnation and denunciation of the explosions that took place in Egypt’s Alexandria, the Somali capital Mogadishu and southern Afghanistan, and the shooting and hostage-taking in France. The Cabinet later took several decisions.
