BRUSSELS: The schedule for the remainder of Saudi Arabia’s pre-World Cup preparations has been confirmed, with the team lining up a mixture of glamor friendlies to gauge their own levels and matches against sides of similar attributes to those they will face in Russia this summer. Following tonight’s match with Belgium in Brussels, the players will return to domestic duty until May when they will reconvene for a training camp in Spain. During the camp, the Green Falcons will play friendly matches with Algeria on May 9 and Greece on May 15, matches which Pizzi believes will help them prepare for their group stage games against Egypt and Russia respectively. On May 28, the team will travel to Switzerland to face Italy, before five days later meeting Peru, a side Pizzi identified as having similar characteristics to Uruguay. On June 8, one week before Saudi compete in the opening match of the World Cup, they will play against the world champions Germany in Leverkusen. The team have already played matches against Moldova, Iraq and Ukraine. For now though, the focus is on tonight’s match with Belgium. “Our idea for this match was not to play against a similar team, but a team of the top level,” Pizzi said. “It was not about the similarities. It’s difficult to find similarities between Belgium and another team in our group. For me, you cannot compare them to Uruguay, Egypt or Russia. Belgium are one of the best teams in the world in their own right.” SAUDI ARABIA"S SCHEDULE Mar. 27: Belgium May. 9: Algeria May. 15: Greece May 28: Italy June 3: Peru June 8: Germany
