Bahraini Foreign Minister Sheikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa ruled out on Tuesday reconciliation with the Qatari regime, saying there is no indication of rapprochement with Doha anytime soon. “There have been transgressions, and pledges that have not been met,” he said during the seventeenth edition of the Arab Media Forum, launched in the UAE under the patronage of the Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. The Bahraini minister noted that it was impossible to talk about a solution to the Qatari crisis due to the disrespect of commitments. It is important to search for other solutions to deal with this issue, he stated. The minister stressed that the Gulf Cooperation Council is not threatened by the Qatari crisis and that the GCC is capable of dealing with it. He also spoke about the Iranian role in the Gulf region. "If Iran changes its policies and chooses to open its doors, this will be in everyones interest. Then, we will not hesitate to build bridges with it," he said. The minister added that Iran has been acting as a threat to the region for years. “We will not allow anyone to harm us,” he said. The Minister also emphasized the deep relations between the Kingdom of Bahrain and Saudi Arabia, affirming that those who know the history and origins of these relations from the days of the late King Abdulaziz Al Saud, are aware of an old alliance, family relations, one stance, one heart and a coordination that is rooted in history.
