The United Nations Yemen envoy, Martin Griffiths, has postponed a visit to the Yemeni cities of Aden and Mukalla. “The Special Envoy’s visit to Aden and Mukalla is postponed due to security and logistical issues,” the Office of the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General for Yemen tweeted. “The Envoy still plans to hold discussions with stakeholders in Aden and Mukalla and will reschedule the visit in the coming weeks, in an effort to resume the political process in Yemen,” OSESGY said on its official Twitter account. Griffiths left Sana’a end of March after holding several meetings with Houthi officials and with the government formed by the insurgents and its allies. He also held talks with officials from the General Peoples Congress (GPC) that was led by late former president Ali Abdullah Saleh. Following his visit to Sana’a, Griffiths said that both sides of the conflict “spoke about their strong desire to move ahead with a political solution.”
