Turkish counterterrorism forces arrested 69 people, including 51 foreigners, suspected of belonging to ISIS, in simultaneous security campaigns in a number of states across the country. Counterterrorism teams carried out simultaneous raids on several houses in Istanbul, which resulted in the arrest of 51 foreigners on Sunday night, security sources said. Ten foreign suspects, including an alleged senior ISIS member, were arrested in central Turkey for their links to the terrorist group, according to a police source. Police made the arrests in the central Anatolian province of Eskisehir; all of them were Iraqi nationals, the source, who asked not to be named due to restrictions on talking to the media, said. The teams confiscated documents and digital materials relating to the organization during the inspections. Forces in Hatay (south) also arrested a suspect on charges of belonging to ISIS, and who has already received a warrant and is added to the list of wanted terrorists that was issued by Turkish authorities. Security sources pointed out that the raids were carried out following information on the willingness of the detainees to carry out terrorist attacks. Notably, Turkish security forces continue their intensive campaigns against ISIS terrorist organization and its members, paralyzing its capabilities and controlling its cells and elements that have illegally infiltrated from Syrian territories. In this context, at least 15 foreigners were arrested in Istanbul for their alleged links with ISIS on Wednesday, according to police sources. The anti-terrorism police teams conducted raids simultaneously in eight districts after they were tipped off about the presence of ISIS suspects planning terrorist attacks, said the sources. Numerous documents and digital materials linked with the terrorist group were also seized during the operations.
