Four Saudi Security Forces Killed in Shooting, Gunfight

Four members of Saudi Arabias security forces were killed and five others wounded in clashes with gunmen on Thursday at a checkpoint in the southwestern Asir province, the Saudi Interior Ministry said. A ministry spokesman said that a security checkpoint came under fire from an unknown source on the Arqoub road between Majarada and Bareq, resulting in the death of Sergeant Ahmed Ibrahim Asiri, Deputy Sgt. Abdullah Ghazi Al-Shihri, and Deputy Sgt. Saleh Ali Al-Amri. The perpetrators were identified and two of them, both Saudi nationals, were arrested, said the spokesman. A third person involved in the shooting was killed while trying to escape from the security forces, according to the spokesman. He was identified as Saudi citizen Bandar Mohammed Ali al-Shihri. The gunfight left five security personnel injured. But one of them succumbed to his injuries while being transferred to hospital, he added.
