Riyadh: The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and its associated bodies are exploring ways to develop a strategy to ensure the well-being of elderly population across the Muslim world. In this regard, the OIC organized the two-day workshop in cooperation with Statistical, Economic and Social Research and Training Centre for Islamic Countries (SESRIC). The member states of the OIC recognize that the efforts on the issues of senior citizens are still limited and they are working to help the elderly lead a dignified life. In a speech delivered on behalf of OIC Secretary-General Dr. Yousef bin Ahmad Al-Othaimeen, the organization’s Assistant Secretary-General for Humanitarian, Cultural and Social Affairs Hesham Youssef said the workshop seeks to discuss ways to achieve the well-being of elderly people and to ensure their welfare. The OIC chief also acknowledged the efforts made by the older generation in building their respective nations.
