The US Civil Nuclear Trade Mission discussed with the Saudi business sector in the Council of Saudi Chambers (CSC) means of strengthening investment partnerships between Riyadh and Washington in the fields of nuclear energy. The meeting touched on the robust Saudi-US economic and political relations, and the recent visit of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to the United States, which had visible impact on the two countries relations, resulting in cooperation agreements in various fields. The US trade missions visit came as part of the two countries efforts to foster cooperation in nuclear energy for peaceful purposes and explore the opportunities that accompany the Saudi Vision 2030, which calls diversifying energy sources by entering into partnerships with leading companies in the field, such as the USA. The US trade mission expressed their interest in collaborating with their Saudi counterpart in this regard and were briefed on the National Atomic Energy Project (SNAEP) by King Abdullah City for Atomic and Renewable Energy, and the Tayseer program by Saudi Arabian General Investment Authority, which highlights reforms in the investment environment in the Kingdom. For his part, President of al-Shorouk Center for Economic Studies Dr. Abdulrahman Baashen told Asharq Al-Awsat that the US and Saudi business sectors have a great and strategic partnership opportunity to cooperate in the field of nuclear energy for peaceful uses. “This partnership represents one of the brightest industrial and investment companies between US and Saudi firms as it is expected that the two sides will reach the strategic partnership and lead it to best level in the future,” Baashen added. He also expected an increase in the volume of trade exchange between the two countries, which so far amounts to $38 billion.
