LONDON: The Israeli security services were concerned about revealing the trove of Iranian documents presented by Benjamin Netanyahu in his dramatic televised speech, Israeli sources told the Saudi-owned Elaph news service. The Israeli prime minister on Monday accused Iran of lying about its nuclear arms program, in a presentation designed to persuade Donald Trump to pull out of the atomic deal between Tehran and world powers. Netanyahu said Israel had recently obtained 55,000 documents and 183 CDs of information from Iran’s nuclear program. Elaph, an Arabic news service based in London, reported that security chiefs were concerned about revealing the documents due to the sensitive information they contained and that they may reveal the methods used by Israel to gather the information. A senior Israeli security source told Elaph that Israel refrained from disclosing some of the collected documents related to the missiles plan and the locations of the program. Netanyahu shared this information with Western intelligence services and leaders, including Donald Trump in March, Reuters reported. Elaph said Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman presented the documents and information to US officials in Washington. The Israeli intelligence sources said the information in the documents was authentic and much of it was new to US experts.
