DUBAI: Arab coalition fighters launched air strikes against Iran-backed Houthi militia positions in Yemen’s central province of Al-Baydah and western province of Saada, Saudi state-news channel Al-Ekhbariya reported. The sources confirmed in a statement on the Yemeni Ministry of Defense’s official site “September 26,” that coalition fighters launched two air raids on Tuesday, targeting Houthi leadership positions in the regions. Sources also confirmed the site was the militia’s operations room where it manages the movement of militants. In other operations a Yemeni military spokesman said the army had secured areas north and west of Hadramout, a day after a military operation against Al-Qaeda militants began. In a statement the spokesman said elite forces from the Hadramout region carried out raids on large parts of the region, concentrating on areas where the local population is terrorized by the militants. Forces secured the main roads leading to the province from the north and west. Meanwhile groups of Houthi militants in Yemen surrendered voluntarily on Sunday to the Yemeni army on a frontier between the provinces of Al-Bayda and Marib. A Yemeni military source said a group of militants, led by their commander, left their positions and moved towards army positions in the area of Qanya and asked for safety and surrendered, according to the official Yemeni news agency.
