As well as being president, he has held another administrative role within the university: Chair of the department of management in the College of Business Administration since December 2006, and he has been a scientific consultant at the Institute of Health Studies since 2002. He also holds academic roles, having been a professor of the master’s program in hospital and health administration at the university’s public administration department since 2005, and has been an adjunct professor in the University of Oklahoma since 2001. He has also been a quality consultant at the National Company for Cooperative Insurance (NCCI) since 2001, and a planning consultant at King Abdul Aziz City for Science and Technology since 1996. Al-Omar attained a bachelor of arts in quantitative methods from King Saud University in 1984 and a postgraduate diploma in operational research from Lancaster University, England, in 1986. He gained a master’s degree in health and hospital administration from King Saud University in 1990, a Ph.D. in the same subject from Wales University, UK, and a certificate of health care quality from the University of Oklahoma in the US. KSU recently organized a forum titled “Restoration of Hope, Security, Stability and Development in Yemen.” Participants at the event affirmed that the Kingdom was seeking to open border crossings and implement infrastructure projects, as well as protect civilians from the Houthi rebellion. KSU is a public university founded by King Saud bin Abdul Aziz Al-Saud in Riyadh in 1957, and was the first university in the Kingdom. It was previously known as Riyadh University and was renamed King Saud University in 1982. It has documented the care and support received from King Salman for more than four decades through an album containing 223 photos depicting the king’s historic relations with the university since its establishment.
