Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri stressed on Friday the importance of moderation in achieving security and stability in the country. “Moderation is not a weakness, but a strength,” he declared from Dar al-Fatwa in Beirut where he met with Grand Mufti Sheikh Abdul Latif Daryan. “Moderation brings security, stability, economy, job opportunities and happiness among the people,” he continued. “Dar al-Fatwa brings together all sides,” he added days before Sunday’s parliamentary elections. “Our decision is free and it favors moderation and the nation,” said the premier. “This is what we are fighting for and we will always stand with Dar al-Fatwa.” “Amid the voices of extremism and loud rhetoric in Lebanon, I always walked against the trend because I believe in Islam as a religion of moderation and peace,” he stated. “The region around us is unstable, but that does not mean that we should also go up in flames with it. We should put out the fire and work together. Me, from my political position, and you, from your religious one,” Hariri told Daryan. “These elections are fateful for us, all Muslims and the country as a whole,” he stressed. He added that he will continue to fulfill his vow to achieve real coexistence in Lebanon through moderation and adopting a centrist approach.
