English singer-songwriter Abbo will be playing, as will popular Irish entertainer Paddy Man DUBAI: A host of local artists will get the chance to impress a crowd of thousands at Dubai Media City Amphitheatre on Friday, May 11, as they perform ahead of one of the world’s most popular bands, Welsh rockers Stereophonics. English singer-songwriter Abbo, whose GoPlayTheWorld open-mic nights sparked a boom in the UAE’s original-music scene, will be playing, as will popular Irish entertainer Paddy Man, who blends music and comedy in his act. Six-piece jazz-folk act Jaye & Foe — winners of the 2016 Jack Daniels Music Scout Dubai Award — are also on the bill, alongside up-and-coming singer-songwriter and talented guitarist Aman Sheriff. Rounding out the local lineup, young trio Vandalye will bring their blend of atmospheric folk-y rock to the stage on one of the biggest nights of the year for the UAE’s independent scene.
