Yemen’s Saada-based tribes confirmed on Wednesday their absolute rejection of the Iranian-backed Houthi coup and expressed determination to continue fighting alongside Yemen’s Aden-based government. Local tribes in Saada, which is one of the coup’s vital strongholds, pledging loyalty to the internationally-recognized government of Abdrabbuh Mansur Hadi delivers a sizable blow to coup forces. Collectively, the tribes of Saada issued a statement calling on Yemenis "to stop sending their children to the battlefronts of a futile war.” The statement said the tribes rejected any sort of power based on sectarian or racial factors, adding that they would form a political committee to meet with ambassadors of the Arab Coalition member states. The tribes also denounced projectiles fired at the neighboring border villages in Saudi Arabia, saying that any shelling is solely the responsibility of Houthi militias. Representatives from most of the Saada tribes unanimously condemned the conduct of the Houthi militia. Tribal leader Yahya bin Muqait confirmed that Saada tribes will continue to fight alongside the legitimacy until the last province is liberated from Houthi influence. On the other hand, Saudi-led Arab Coalition Command Spokesman Col. Turki Al-Malki announced that Houthi militias failed to launch short-range Badr-type rockets from within Yemeni territories north of Saada towards the Kingdom. Iranian-made arms have long been discovered in Houthi militias’ possession. In a statement published by the Saudi Press Agency, Col. Malki said that at 11.29 a.m. on Wednesday the Saudi Royal Air Defense Force RSADF intercepted a ballistic missile launched by the Houthi terrorist militia from the Yemeni territory, north of Amran region. Malki said the forces also spotted another missile that fell 100 km south of Riyadh in an unpopulated desert. No casualty or damage was reported in the incident. He explained that another rocket was deliberately fired at populated areas in Najran. Earlier on Wednesday, the RSADF intercepted a ballistic missile launched by Iranian-backed the Houthi militias from Saada governorate in Yemen toward Jizan city. Col. Malki said these hostile actions by Houthis, backed by Iran, prove the continuing involvement of the Iranian regime in supporting the militias with qualitative capabilities in clear violation of UN resolutions.
