LONDON: Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Thursday that US withdrawal from the Iran deal is a significant violation of a UN resolution. Speaking after talks with German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas, he also said that the withdrawal is a “very very significant” blow to non-proliferation in the region. Lavrov"s German counterpart Heiko Maas added that it is crucial that Iran sticks to its obligations under the international nuclear deal and that Moscow can use its influence on Tehran in this respect. Maas also said that Russia and Germany agreed that the Iran nuclear agreement should be upheld.
