British Prince Harry and now Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, married on Saturday in a mind-blowing ceremony that shined with a touch of modernity. Harry and Meghan exchanged vows in a medieval chapel at Windsor Castle. Royals and prominent figures were at the wedding, in addition to millions of people who watched the royal ceremony live on TV. Reuters reported that Meghan, who was wearing a veil, diamond tiara and a sleek dress with a long train, was accompanied up the aisle by Harry’s father, Prince Charles, before she and Harry exchanged vows and were proclaimed husband and wife. Prince Harry and Meghan will be now known as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex after Queen Elizabeth bestowed those titles on them. Meghan’s mother, Doria Ragland, 61, accompanied her daughter to the chapel in a vintage Rolls Royce and shed tears of emotion at several points during the ceremony, Reuters reported. In a break with tradition, Meghan, 36, did not vow to obey her husband; while Harry wore a wedding ring, different to other senior male royals. Meghan was further in another break with tradition making a speech at the newly-weds’ evening event, to which about 200 guests were invited. The Duke and Duchess will carry out their first official engagement as husband and wife next week before leaving for a honeymoon.
