Saudi air defenses on Friday intercepted a ballistic missile over the southern city of Najran after it was fired by Yemen’s Houthi insurgents, the Arab Coalition said. Debris from the missile landed in residential areas of Najran without causing casualties, Coalition Spokesman Turki al-Maliki said in a statement released by the official Saudi Press Agency. A Houthi missile was intercepted over Jazan on Thursday, according to Maliki, who said there were no casualties. He reiterated that the new attack by Iran-backed Houthi militias proves the Tehran regime’s support to the armed group in violation of UN Security Council resolutions 2216 and 2231. Such attacks aim to threaten the security of Saudi Arabia and that of the region and the world, said Maliki. He added that firing missiles on populated areas is considered a violation of international humanitarian law.
