Tory Burch boasts Bohemian designs perfect for Ramadan gatherings Expect plenty of understated neutrals — crisp white, soft stone and toffee — mixed with bold bursts of color DUBAI: Queen Elizabeth II may have stolen the show in her lemon and lime ensemble at the recent royal wedding in the UK, but she’s not the only royal to up the style stakes at important events. Ask any fashion expert, and they’ll tell you that the region’s very own Queen Rania of Jordan’s looks are always on point. And now, following a recent iftar gathering, there’s a very modest and beautiful silk, georgette number that’s rumored to be selling online very quickly after Queen Rania was spotted in it. Where is it from, you ask? It’s the Collette Dress by US fashion designer Tory Burch. Ranging from $315-$613 online, the Colette Dress is described as a “demure choice for day and evening events.” Sculpting a flattering hourglass silhouette in dotted silk georgette, the dress features sheer, billowy sleeves and flared cuffs. Adding to its modest factor is a high neck and full skirt that falls below the knee. While the brand hasn’t gone ahead and released a special capsule collection this Holy Month, there are a number of pieces from its Spring/Summer 2018 line that can be styled in a way to make them very chic and appropriate for whatever festive gathering you are set to attend. Tory Burch explained a little bit about the collection in a released statement, saying it is “bold, audacious (and) brilliant. (The late influential British interior designer) David Hicks redefined interiors. His fearless and witty take on color and print, and his exquisite attention to detail, have made a lasting impression on me.” She continues: “For Spring/Summer 2018, we (were) honored to work with the legendary designer’s original scrapbooks, given to us by his son. Immeasurable thanks to Ashley Hicks for this collaboration.” The collection’s silk, cashmere and soft crepe silhouettes focuses on “relaxed shapes” to capture the season’s so-called effortless vibe. “Slouchy, wide-legged pants, bohemian kaftans and a wrap dress cut from scarves balance preppy shirts and a classic trench for a collection that is feminine and familiar, modern and easy,” the brand revealed. Expect plenty of understated neutrals — crisp white, soft stone and toffee — mixed with bold bursts of color. Think mustard yellow (a color that’s a favorite of Amal Clooney, it seems), poppy red and tangerine. But it doesn’t stop there: The highlight of this collection is without a doubt the prints and patterns from Hicks — or inspired by his work. That includes kaleidoscopic and geometric motifs and stripes in different iterations and scales. The brand describes an iris print that “references Hicks’ love of gardens,” as well as a Moroccan-inspired pattern that “pays homage to his global influences.” Tory Burch stores can be found in Alkhobar, Jeddah, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Kuwait City, Beirut and Cairo and you can peruse the collection at your own leisure on toryburch.com.
