The Palestinian Authority severely criticized on Saturday the American administration for vetoing a Kuwaiti draft proposal at the United Nations Security Council that demanded international protection of Palestinians against Israeli aggression. The PA vowed to confront any American peace projects in the region, including the so-called “Deal of the Century,” Palestinian president spokesman Nabil Abu Rudaina said: "The rising American hostility toward Palestinian rights, the last of which was the veto, indicate that the existing possibilities are not an option, but rather a test of the ability of the unified Arab stand in confronting current and future challenges.” “The ongoing US policy that supports Israeli occupation and settlements, which violate all international resolutions, will only increase the commitment of the Palestinian people and their leadership to the national constants.” He said that no settlement will be acceptable or achievable without the consent of the Palestinian leadership and its institutions. "Any attempt to go around the national position, under any humanitarian slogans, or any ideas to break down and end the Palestinian cause will remain ink on paper," he said of the “Deal of the Century.” Abu Rudaina said that "the only way to achieve a just and lasting peace is through adherence to all Arab and international resolutions, including decisions made at Arab summits and by the Palestinian leadership and its National Council.” “Crossing the red line, will keep the whole region in a constant fight against a fire that may not be contained,” he warned.
