The appointment of Ahmed bin Suleiman al-Rajhi as Saudi Arabia’s minister of labor and social development is an important sign that the Kingdom is seriously seeking to benefit from the successful experiences in the private sector to achieve Vision 2030. This vision aspires to achieve the highest levels of partnership between the private and public sectors. Rajhi, who was appointed by a Royal decree on Saturday, is a model of young businessmen, who have reaped several successes in the private sector. Saudi Arabia is keen to benefit from the success of these businessmen to develop government work and Rajhi represents a generation of youths who have rich and unique experiences. He enjoys a complete vision on achieving the Saudization of the private sector. This is in line with the government’s aim to raise the percentage of Saudi private sector employees through providing them with suitable jobs. The new minister has diverse experiences in several vital sectors, including energy, water and non-profitable work. Furthermore, he was the president of the Council of Saudi Chambers, which qualifies him to activate the role of the private sector in meeting the government’s goals to partner with the public sector. Rajhi is known for quickly assessing the problems that the labor market is suffering from, which will help in the quickly reaching solutions for these issues. This will, in turn, raise the skill of the Saudi work force in a manner that meets the market needs.
