Saudi Ambassador to the United States Prince Khalid bin Salman hailed on Monday the Kingdom’s hosting of a summit in the holy city of Makkah to support Jordan in its economic crisis. He said: “The Makkah summit confirms Saudi Arabia’s firm policy of supporting Arab brothers.” Hosted by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz on Sunday, the summit pledged $2.5 billion in economic aid for Jordan. “The summit exemplifies the important role of Arab cooperation in advancing peace, stability and prosperity for the region and its people. We support Jordan’s stability and prosperity under the leadership of King Abdullah II,” added Prince Khalid in a series of tweets on his official Twitter account. “Saudi Arabia stands united to back development and our brothers against the forces of evil that want to drag the region towards chaos and destruction,” he continued. “The Kingdom constantly stands by its Arab brothers in all efforts that may achieve and support security, prosperity and stability for our countries,” added the Saudi ambassador. The Makkah summit was attended by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, Jordan’s King Abdullah, Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmed al-Jaber al-Sabah and United Arab Emirates Crown Prince and Ruler of Dubai Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
