United Arab Emirates State Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr. Anwar Gargash declared on Tuesday that the Iran-backed Houthi militias could no longer keep Yemen’s Hodeidah “hostage to fund their war.” He said in a series of tweets: “The liberation of Hodeidah and its port will create a new reality and force the Houthis to the negotiations table.” “Their assault on the Yemeni people has continued for too long,” he continued. “The current illegal Houthi occupation of Hodeidah is prolonging the war,” stressed Gargash. Furthermore, he said the international community must pressure the Houthis to evacuate Hodeidah and leave its port intact, while condemning their use of land and seam mines in disregard of Yemeni lives. The Arab coalition and UAE will continue to accelerate the flow of humanitarian aid to all Yemenis, the minister stated.
