Prince Khalid pointed out that the decision to allow women to drive comes as part of the efforts of the state to enhance the status and role of women in accordance with the principles of Islamic law JEDDAH: Amelia Lakrafi, head of the French National Assembly delegation, member of the foreign affairs committee and the Saudi-French Friendship Committee, expressed her appreciation of Saudi Arabia’s decisions to enhance the role of Saudi women, commending especially the decision to allow women to drive that took effect recently. This came during a meeting of the Saudi-French parliamentary friendship committee, chaired by the Council’s Chairman Prince Khalid bin Abdullah bin Mishari at the Council headquarters in Riyadh on Tuesday, with members of the French National Assembly, headed by Lakrafi, who are currently visiting the Kingdom. Prince Khalid pointed out that the decision to allow women to drive comes as part of the efforts of the state to enhance the status and role of women in accordance with the principles of Islamic law. He stressed the Kingdom’s commitment to combating terrorism and defeating its criminal schemes at national, regional and international levels. The French delegation praised the Kingdom’s reforms in relation to women’s affairs in various fields.
