2018 Arab News June 26, 2018 11:02 1739 DUBAI: Social networking app WhatsApp will no longer function on phones that are using older operating systems, the company announced on its website. The statement on the application’s website, which is owned by Facebook, said it would no longer work on Android operating systems older than version 2.3.7, Nokia S40 and iPhones running iOS 7 or older. “Because we’ll no longer actively develop for these operating systems, some features might stop functioning at any time,” WhatsApp said in the blogpost. Android versions 2.3.7 and iOS 7 and older will be able to continue using WhatsApp until February 1, 2020 while Nokia S40 has until December 31, 2018. The company boasts nearly half a billion users worldwide.
