JEDDAH: Saudi minister of transport and the chairman of the board of directors of the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA), Dr. Nabil bin Mohammed Al-Amoudi, accompanied by GACA chairman, Abdul Hakim bin Mohammed Al-Tamimi, visited the chairman of the board of directors of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), Dr. Olumuyiwa Benard Aliu, on Tuesday. During the visit the minister highlighted the Kingdom’s support for all of ICAO’s strategic goals, discussing the many areas of cooperation between the organization and the Kingdom. He said that the Kingdom has agreed to host the World Conference for the Middle East and Arab region on the Safety and Security of Civil Aviation. Participation by the ICAO in the development of regional plans and programs to raise the level of compliance of the regional countries with the International Standards of the Organization was also discussed. Al-Amoudi also visited ICAO secretary-general, Fang Liu. They discussed ways of cooperating overtraining and communication between the Kingdom and the Regional Office in Cairo. Liu praised the Kingdom for taking the lead in the Middle East and the Arab region, acknowledging the Kingdom’s strong support for raising aviation safety and security at regional and international levels. She also highlighted Saudi Arabia’s ongoing efforts to support ICAO’s counterterrorism strategies and the Global Aviation Security Plan. During the several-day visit, the delegation will also meet with the Chairman of the US Federal Aviation Administration and Chairmen of major US companies in the fields of airport construction, technical systems, airport operations, and a several chairmen of US carrier companies in a number of US states
