Palestinians in Ramallah protested against the US peace plan, known as the deal of the century, shouting slogans against it and vowing to topple it at all costs. Hundreds of Palestinians marched in Ramallah, at the invitation of Fatah and the national campaign to “topple the deal of the century”, waving Palestinian flags and pictures of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas. The march was attended by officials from Fatah, the PLO and the Palestinian Authority. Protesters waved banners bearing the slogans of “Palestine is not for sale”, “the deal of shame” and “no to the deal of the century.” “We don’t want your aid... we want a Palestinian state,” said Mahmoud al-Alloul, a senior Palestinian official. Alloul accused US President Donald Trump of preparing a solution that does not address the issues of refugees, Jerusalem and the return. He also quoted President Mahmoud Abbas as saying: “The US is not qualified to lead the peace process; Jerusalem is the capital of Palestine, for which thousands of our people were martyred. It can never be renounced.” Popular demonstrations were held in support of the PA political position that rejects the US deal. The Palestinian leadership says the deal has been turned into a humanitarian solution aimed at separating the Gaza Strip from the West Bank. Abbas has declined to meet with any US officials for a long time and has refused to listen to the details of their plan because of the US stance on Jerusalem and the Gaza Strip. In a statement on Monday, Fatah Movement warned Hamas against favoring any humanitarian deals that would strengthen the separation of the Gaza Strip. The movement said that any plans under the name of humanitarian deals were aimed at circumventing national issues and strengthening the so-called deal of the century.
