Frances western city of Nantes has witnessed a second night of violence after a deadly shooting of a young man during a stop-and-search operation by police. Protesters clashed with riot police overnight into Thursday, burning stores and cars, AP reported. Twelve people were arrested in connection with the violence. Prime Minister Edouard Philippe, speaking from Nantes Thursday morning, expressed his "firmest condemnation" of the violence. The PM also promised that a fully transparent investigation will be made over the circumstances of the 22-year-olds death on Tuesday. "The man had been sought under a year-old arrest warrant for an alleged robbery south of Paris, and had given police a false identity when stopped in Nante", authorities have said. According to AFP, rioters set fire to several dozen cars for a second night running Wednesday and fought pitched battles with the police in the low-income district of Breil. Several public buildings, including a police station, were damaged and a dozen shops were torched, despite calls by the victims family for calm. It was reported that a silent march has been planned for Thursday evening in Nantes over his death.
