Terrorist Killed in Saudi Arabia’s al-Qassim

A Saudi soldier was killed in a clash on Sunday with three terrorists in the al-Qassim region. According to the Interior Ministry, three terrorists riding in a Hyundai Elantra vehicle opened fire at a al-Qassim prison security checkpoint. A shootout soon ensued between the security forces and the assailants. Two of the terrorists were killed and one was wounded. Staff Sergeant Suleiman Abdulaziz Al-Abdullatif and a Bangladeshi expatriate were killed in the attack. The incident took place on Sunday afternoon on the Buraidah – al-Tarfiya road. Asharq Al-Awsat learned that the three terrorists were would-be suicide bombers. When the shoot out erupted, one of the assailants was killed and another severely wounded, while the third exited the vehicle and attempted to storm the checkpoint. At that point he engaged in a clash with Al-Abdullatif and detonated an explosive belt he was wearing. Security forces have since cordoned off the area and launched an investigation into the attack.
