Tanzanian conjoined twins arrive in Riyadh

JEDDAH: Conjoined twins, Anisia and Melnis from Tasmania arrived at King Khalid International Airport today with their mother and a medical team, as part of humanitarian efforts being undertaken by the Kingdom. The twin girls were attended by the national guards in Riyadh, in coordination with King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center, which will supervise their treatment and investigate whether is is possible to separate them. The twins, who are nearly six months old, are joined at the thorax, abdomen and pelvis and share three lower limbs. They are currently in a stable condition. The twins traveled to Saudi Arabia for treatment at the Kingdom’s expense. Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al-Rabiah, adviser at the Royal Court and General Supervisor of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center, praised the humanitarian gesture.
