Saudi: Transport Minister Inks 23 Infrastructure Projects at $453.3 Mn

Saudi Minister of Transport Nabil Al-Amoudi signed on Monday 23 new projects, worth of 1.737 billion Saudi Riyals (USD 453 millions) to build a new network of roads across the kingdom. “The deals signed today include projects within the budget of the ministry ... and the ministry is working by a clear strategy to provide to quality roads that benefit citizens and to elevate safety standards,” state-owned news agency SPA cited the minister as saying. The minister reaffirmed that there will not be any tolerance towards any incompetence or delay in executing these projects, and the ministry signed contracts with renowned companies, and expects full and on-time delivery. All 23 contracts signed by the transport ministry are distributed into different areas; seven in Makkah, six in Riyadh, four in Assir, two in the Eastern Province, and one in each of Hail, Al-Bahah and Tabuk. The total number of projects signed for 2018 is 75 projects and stands at an estimate value exceeding 2.7 billion riyals (720 million dollars). The ministry stressed its keenness to closely monitor progress on the project, and to make sure contracting companies adhere to standards set by the ministry and deliver within contract deadlines and without delay or delay. "We have asked the contractors to supervise the projects executed by Saudi engineers in support of our national competencies," said Al-Amoudi.
