LONDON: Al-Batin have made a bold statement by signing the top-scorer in the Jordan Premier League last season. Lukasz Gikiewicz has signed for the Saudi Pro League club on a free transfer from Al-Faisaly where he scored 14 goals last season. The much-traveled striker, who has signed for his 16th different club, will add much-neeed firepower to the Al-Batin frontline that misfired last season, scoring just 35 goals in 26 games. Even second-bottom Al-Raed scored more than them last season. Gikiewicz has experience of playing in the Gulf as he joined Al-Wahda in 2015, but he lasted just five months before moving to Thai outfit Ratchaburi. Gikiewicz was one of five new signings announced on Wednesday by Al-Batin who have clearly decided to revamp their squad under Romanian coach Ciprian Panait. Colombian midfielder Misael Riascos, Brazilian defenders Joao Gabriel and Lucas Tagliapietra and midfielder Andrés Fernandes Gonçalves have all joined the Al-Samawi who have finished 12th and 11th since being promoted to the top flight.
