Yemen’s National Army Forces, backed by Arab Coalition air support, achieved notable advances in the past two days on each of Hajjah, Taiz and South Hodeidah fronts. Battles are chiefly focused on liberating the southern Tahita directorate, located south of Hodeidah. National Army forces made substantial advances towards Houthi strongholds nestled in Saada province’s Maran mountains. National Army forces made significant progress in Khadair district, south-east of Taiz, after winning over heavy fighting rounds with Houthi guerrillas. Houthis sustained heavy losses in human and artillery after waging retaliatory offenses that failed in Taiz’s south. No reports were made on Houthi positions being regained. Battles fought in As Silw District, located in Taiz, also cut off Houthi supply lines, dubbed a major strategic gain for pro-government forces, the source added. One of the fiercest and most valiant battles fought by pro-government forces against Houthi coupists took place in Shibam, in the southern Hadhramaut Governorate, a 35th Armored Brigade military source told Asharq Al-Awsat. On the other hand, Yemeni President Abdrabbuh Mansour Hadi stressed the importance of enhancing coordination, cooperation and integration between Yemen and Arab Coalition member states in hopes of achieving goals and aspirations that serve everyone. The Yemeni president met with Arab Coalition Commander Brigadier General Awad Saeed Al Ahbabi on Wednesday, and praised support provided by the Saudi-led alliance backing Yemenis and their internationally-recognized government against a Houthi waged coup. Armed by Iran, Houthi militiamen are leading a nationwide effort to topple the constitutionally elected government headed by Hadi. Held in Yemen’s interim capital Aden, the meeting saw Hadi positively reviewing efforts spent by Arab Coalition countries, namely Saudi Arabia and the UAE, and labeling their positions as ‘honorable’ and sacrifices they made in the battlefield as heroic. The Arab Coalition’s chief objective is to support the public will of Yemenis and their internationally-recognized government in pushing back against the Houthi-led coup. “Dangers posed by Iran and its Houthi puppets and terrorist arms are still lurking to serve the Persian project targeting the well-being of Yemen in particular and the Arab region in general,” said Hadi. For his part, Brig.Gen. Ahbabi along with the visiting delegation stressed the “unity of objectives for which everyone works for and sacrifices in their support for Yemen and its constitutional legitimacy.” Core objectives promulgated by the Arab Coalition include achieving security and peace in Aden and liberated areas.
