Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has declared his support for right-wing parties in Europe in what he called “the fight against political Islam and terrorism” and even considered himself part of this war. He revealed that Israel’s foreign intelligence service (Mossad) has made a decisive contribution to the abortion of a terrorist operation by a group of armed men affiliated with Iran. Netanyahu was speaking at a gala dinner held in the honor of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Urban, who concluded on Friday a 48-hour visit to Israel. “Our neighbors recognize the danger posed by radical Islam,” Netanyahu said. “It threatens Europe and the whole world. It certainly threatens us and the neighboring Arab states. Of all the sources of radical Islam, we consider Iran more dangerous to our common civilization. Israel stands at the forefront of the struggle against fundamentalist Islam as it protects Europe in many ways.” In the same context, Netanyahu’s office published a statement claiming that the Mossad received security intelligence information, which led to a large-scale arrest campaign in Europe against Iranian figures, who were plotting to attack a conference in which Iranian opposition movements gathered at the end of June in France. The Mossad said it had briefed the European security services on the information it had obtained and that an Iranian diplomat from Austria was behind the bombing attempt with the participation of other Iranian diplomats. Earlier this month, the Belgian, French and German authorities announced that they had carried out a joint operation to arrest six people for planning to blow up a conference organized by an Iranian opposition movement. According to an Israeli security source, the Iranian cell was preparing to carry out additional attacks against targets in Europe.
