JEDDAH: Prince Khaled Al-Faisal, governor of Makkah and adviser to King Salman, stressed the importance and aesthetic value of the Basmat Jeddah Gardens project, harmonized with the new King Abdul Aziz International Airport. He also underlined the need to join efforts to complete it on time. During a meeting attended by representatives of relevant bodies in Jeddah on Saturday, Prince Khaled reviewed the workflow phases that included the clearing and filling of the gardens’ soil, along with required infrastructure works. Basmat Jeddah Gardens cover 600,000 square meters, including the construction of 19-meter high poles supported by laser lights, representing the pillars of Islam. Two large structures will be built, featuring the word “Jeddah” in Arabic and English, and 20,000 trees and 75 palm trees will be planted along with more than 176,000 square meters of natural and artificial grass with a sophisticated irrigation system. The project is part of the development of the southern facade of King Abdul Aziz International Airport, in line with the directions of the Makkah governor to eliminate the industrial zone of Al-Nozha neighborhood and develop it in accordance with the new building system adopted by the Jeddah municipality.
