RIYADH: Refugee camps in the region face numerous problems, including the access of good health care services and the lack of doctors willing to commit to that particular practice. This makes it even harder to provide these camps with the appropriate medical care. But responding to such a distinctive need of the refugees, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSRelief) is doing its best to provide the much needed respite to distressed people living in various camps across Yemen, and Syrian refugees living in Jordan, Lebanon and other neighboring countries. One such specialized medical team from KSRelief is providing treatment to Yemeni refugees at the Obock camp in Djibouti. “The KSRelief’s medical centers continue to provide treatment to Yemeni refugees at the Obock camp in Djibouti,” Abdul Majeed Al-Humaydhi, a spokesman at the center, told Arab News. “The patients at the camp receive good care at our clinics in a number of specialties that include internal medicine, ENT, orthopedics, general surgery, urology, endemic diseases, dermatology, allergies, eye diseases, dental care, psychiatry, obstetrics, gynecology and children’s intestinal catarrh and bronchitis,” said the spokesman. He said that between May 1 and June 30, the number of patients who have been treated stands at 1,380. They all have received complete treatment at the clinics operating at the Obock camp. The official said the center distributed different humanitarian aid to 14 in-patient Syrian refugee women at the Othman Hospital and Central Hospital in Ketermaya, Lebanon, on Sunday. The aid included child-delivery care kits, personal hygiene kits and children’s blankets. KSRelief, through its extensive international humanitarian outreach efforts, seeks to provide essential livelihood needs to Syrian IDPs in Syria and refugees in neighboring countries. Earlier, KSRelief stepped up humanitarian effort with medical relief and required assistance in health areas announcing three specialized medical teams last month to provide treatment to injured Yemenis in Marib, Taiz and Aden. The medical team included neurosurgeons, orthopedic surgeons, and specialists in spinal surgery, ENT, plastic surgery and anesthesia. The medical assistance provided medical equipment, supplies as well as operation theater equipment and surgery sets to the hospitals in these three places. Moreover, the KSRelief recently sent specialized medical teams to Hodeidah to help the distressed people. The center also provided the necessary medical supplies, medicines and medical devices Yemeni hospital in order to prepare the proper health infrastructure and conduct specialized quality operations within Yemen. The Center ensures that its health programs cover all activities and specialties according to the medical needs on the ground especially for women and children.
