Commander of the Joint Forces to Support Legitimacy in Yemen Lieutenant General Prince Fahd bin Turki bin Abdulaziz met Monday with a number of elders in Tihama province, west Yemen. The meeting tackled various important subjects related to ongoing operations to continue the liberation process of what is remaining from the province. The parties also discussed the implementation of the coordination mechanism among the leadership of the joint forces, sheikhs of the tribe and citizens of the liberated areas in the province within the next few days. The elders expressed gratitude to the Saudi-led coalition on its efforts to restore legitimacy to Yemen from the Iranian-supported Houthi militias and its support and humanitarian aid provided to Tihama areas specifically. They said that all what has been achieved on ground proves the coalition’s decisiveness to restore legitimacy to the war-torn country and attain security and stability. On the other hand, Saudi-led coalition air jets have spread leaflets over Zabid and Husayniyah cities in preparation to break in. The leaflets said that the joint forces are coming to liberate their areas from the Houthi militias and called on the people in these areas not to support the militias in their fight. They stressed that the militias are dragging citizens to a losing war while their sons are in Iran and Lebanon. They also urged them to compare their areas to those liberated and see how stable and secure they are and how development projects are being implemented. For his part, Sheikh Ahmed al-Shirai of Absiyya tribe, commander in Tihama Resistance, told Asharq Al-Awsat that the coastal strip in the west coast is controlled by the resistance-supported national army and Saudi-led coalition forces. He said that the last point reached by these forces is Hodeidah Airport, and from the east of the liberated areas, resistance forces repelled many of the militia attacks targeting the deployed forces.
